Mobile Engineer & Senior Mobile Engineer (iOS/Android)

We're putting together a talented team to build the world's best calendar

Daybridge is the calendar the world's been waiting for. Unlike traditional calendar apps, it'll be expressive, intuitive, smart, and beautifully designed. Users will be able to add personal context to their plans, better manage their work/life balance, and more easily find time with others.

You'll build Daybridge with us

You'll help shape both our product and the culture of our company. You'll work closely with Daybridge's founder and CEO, Kieran, and alongside our growing team of mobile engineers who'll give you all the support you need.

Each day is often different, but you'll typically be working with our team to:

  • prioritise features, bug fixes, and performance improvements
  • implement customer-facing product features alongside our designers, mobile engineers, and backend engineers
  • build processes to prepare and release updates to the App Store efficiently

Who we're looking for

We're looking for smart, creative, and dependable engineers who want to make their mark at an early-stage company. You should apply if...

  • you have strong opinions on how to design, build, and operate consumer-facing product
  • you're a good communicator, and able to give and receive constructive feedback
  • you're comfortable working independently
  • you're excited to join an early-stage team, and are happy to pitch in with work outside of your discipline

What experience we're looking for

We're looking for people who:

  • have built a mobile app from scratch
  • have worked on a real production application for a product company
  • have a clear understanding of how to architect scalable mobile apps
  • have an eye for design, and are able to implement designs accurately
  • are able to identify and remedy performance bottlenecks in apps
  • are familiar with mobile accessibility standards, and know how to implement them in practice

Our mobile stack

Our mobile apps are written 100% in the latest UI toolkits - SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose, and we have no Objective-C or Java. We have a shared business logic layer using Kotlin Multiplatform - this provides both our native apps with the data they need to create delightful user experiences, and we only have to write this logic once. GraphQL delivers data to our mobile apps from our backend.

As we are still early in our journey, elements of our chosen stack are still very much up for discussion - we review our tooling regularly and welcome everyone's opinion.

Interview process

We want our interview process to be as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. The first step will be a quick call to discuss the basics of the role and to help decide if we'll be a good fit. We'll then follow up with a coding exercise - or, if you prefer, you can provide us with an interesting piece of code you've already written, which we'll discuss.

There'll also be a one-hour general technical interview (no trick questions or whiteboard exercises), which could either be wrapped into the coding exercise or completed at a later date.

Once the process is finished, we promise to let you know our decision as soon as possible.

How to apply

Please email your CV to hiring@daybridge.com, along with anything else you think might help your application. In your email, tell us a bit about you, how you found Daybridge, and what excites you about the possibility of working with us!

We'll be in touch with next steps as quickly as we can.

Benefits and options

We offer a salary of £40,000 — £80,000 (negotiable), plus 0.4% — 0.8% ownership of Daybridge via tax-efficient EMI stock options.

We'll be growing our package of benefits over time. We currently offer:

  • Flexible working (we're all currently working from home, with occasional days together in person)
  • Comprehensive private medical insurance, with dental and mental health cover
  • Comprehensive income protection, so you'll still get paid if you fall ill and can't work
  • Life assurance for 4x your annual salary
  • Salary reviews every six months and whenever we raise more investment
  • 33 days flexible holiday, with the choice to use your bank holiday allowance on days that better suit you
  • 14 days paid sick leave, as well as paid mental health days, with more available if you need it
  • Paid bereavement and compassionate leave
  • A workplace pension scheme where we pay 3%, if you pay 5%
  • A brand new MacBook Pro, 4K display, and any other equipment you need
  • Regular (and optional) team socials

Frequently asked questions, answered.

Are you looking for freelancers or contractors?
We regularly work with contractors and freelancers to support us with smaller projects, mostly in non-engineering roles. We prefer to work with people on a full-time basis so we can offer ownership in the company. However, our priority is to work with the best people regardless of their situation; so are open to freelancers and contractors who only want to work with us on a temporary basis.
Do you offer internships or placements?
While we have no formal internship programme at Daybridge, we'll always consider exceptional candidates with experience working on production systems. We're also happy to meet candidates interested in future roles at Daybridge (e.g. following graduation).
Where are your offices?
We're currently working from home, but have office space in London, UK - near Farringdon station.
Do you hire recent graduates?
We welcome graduates to apply for a role at Daybridge. In your application, you need to demonstrate relevant experience: whether through employment and internships, or through personal projects and contributions to open source.
Can you sponsor visas?
We can't sponsor visas right now. We'll be working on securing a visa sponsorship license in the future.
Do you work with recruiters?
We aren't working with recruiters right now, but this might change in the future.
